	RECENT RETIREMENTS Hialeah Speedway opened in 1954 and closed in August 2005. Hialeah was operated under several different groups in its last years, but was operated by a comittee for most of its existence. *CLICK FOR MORE!* Two major speedways in Florida's rich stock car racing history closed in 2004-2005. Sunshine Speedway closed at the end of 2004 after 45 years of operation by the same family. Sunshine was located in Pinellas Park, Fl., just west of Tampa.

	Jacksonville and Thundercross Speedways both closed in 2004. We are compiling the information for both of those speedways and hopefully will have their tribute pages ready before too long. In 2005 Ornage County Raceway, a 1/4 mile dirt track was bulldozed to make way for more parking for a MotoCross track on the property.
